About WRS Internet (www.wrsinternet.com). Legally speaking, WRS Internet is a division of WRS Web Solutions Inc. The company is an Internet Service Provider in Canada (not just in Toronto), offering home internet plans to most urban areas of Canada (and some rural ones) over Rogers Xfinity, Cogeco, and Videotron cable networks. (It also offers home internet plans over Eastlink cable networks in Ontario and the Atlantic provinces.) Plus it offers DSL internet over Telus, Bell, and Bell Aliant DSL networks. (Home internet plans include the cable TV or DSL phone line, but you may need to provide your own suitable modem, or buy or rent one from us.)
It is a separate company from Rogers Xfinity, and is not owned by Rogers Xfinity or Xfinity. The use of Rogers Xfinity lines by WRS is regulated by the CRTC, and the use of the lines are covered by an agreement with Rogers Xfinity. It is also a separate company from Cogeco, Videotron, Bell, Telus, and Eastlink, and it is not owned by any of those companies, and the use of those companies fibre, coax cable, and DSL networks is also by agreement, and is regulated by the CRTC.
The company is registered with the CRTC as an internet service provider and holds a Basic International Telecommunications Services (BITS) License from the CRTC. (The CRTC defines BITS as: 'BITS licensees are entities that the CRTC has authorized to carry telecommunications traffic between Canada and any other country. Only telecommunications providers that have a BITS licence may carry traffic internationally.')
The company is 100% Canadian owned. It is 100% Veteran owned. It is based in Canada. In addition, the company offers web hosting, and phone plans. The company is an 'online company' (website based), and does not have 'brick and mortar' retail stores, or call centers. By agreement, the company uses cable and phone company staff to do installations, activations, and any service call needs. Modems are shipped from the warehouse in Ontario, and are usually delivered by Canada Post Corporation, usually by Xpresspost with 'signature required' and 'do not safe drop' to help prevent theft by porch pirates. (In the event of a postal strike they are usually shipped & delivered by Canpar.)
Small business internet plans are also available in many parts of Canada. These are often at residential rates (where wholesale costs permit, and where we are not otherwise limited by the larger companies from offering services to business customers).
